PROFESSOR NICK CUTTER
Background:
Height: 6' Age: 36 First Appearance: Series 1 - Episode 1 Final Appearance: Series 3 - Episode 3 Biography: Professor Nick Cutter becomes one of the first to form the team that researches the mysterious Anomalies. Eight years ago, his wife, Helen Cutter, disappeared. It was presumed she had died, no body or trace of her was ever found. And her last sighting was in the Forest of Dean area. Unknowingly, to Cutter, Helen had actually escaped a predatory Gorgonopsid through a rip in time. It is this very event that lead Helen to discovering the Anomaly crisis. Eight years later, Cutter, and his friend Stephen, continue to live their life working at the Central Metropolitan University. The Professor stumbles across his old student, Connor Temple. Connor points out an evolutionary hoax that he found in a newspaper. Coincidentally, the sighting came from the Forest of Dean. Being irresistible to Cutter, due to his wife disappearing in the same area, the three continue on to explore this hoax. As Cutter builds a team, they find a mysterious rip in the fabric of time. The rip is coded under the word 'Anomaly', and Cutter leads the first expedition through the Anomaly into the prehistoric Permian period. Despite government official James Lester's worry, Cutter demands he must look for his wife, hence the expedition is called. He is accompanied by Captain Tom Ryan, as the two take the revolutionary trip to the past. Cutter plays a pivotal role in researching and helping the Anomaly operation. A loving, caring and father figure to the likes of Connor, Cutter becomes haunted by his past. His close friend, and colleague, Claudia Brown vanishes from existence. |

Cutter battles on, but as Helen manipulates his best friend Stephen, and a infiltration takes place inside the Anomaly Operation, it is Cutter who lives with the guilt of the tragic death of Stephen.
As time progresses, the ARC feel the heavy weight of the loss of their team member and close friend, but they continue their job. And soon enough, after many Anomalies, vast progression is made regarding Anomaly research, lead by Nick. The Professor creates a theory regarding the Anomaly Matrix, and devises a tangible way to predict the place and time in which the Anomaly events occur. The complex mapping system is destroyed however, as Helen Cutter's insane plan to blow up the ARC's research is successful. In an attempt to 'save the world' from destruction in the future, Helen kills her husband, as she believes it is him (and the ARC) that somehow create artificial forms of Future Predator, that ravage the planet. Professor Nick Cutter, murdered, cannot carry on his extraordinary work, with a lot of his research destroyed. The ARC's biggest asset, and most intuitive scientist dies. And Connor Temple, Abby Maitland, Jenny Lewis, Sarah Page, Captain Becker and James Lester, along with newcomer Danny Quinn, are left to pick up the pieces, and continue the legacy of the professor.
